On April 19, 1995 - as my three year old grandson, with tears in his eyes, so
aptly explained..."The Building Broke!" The bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building
horrified and terrorized each person in their own way. Psychologists state
that the actual ramifications (especially for children) of the event
will continue for years.
The loss of security
and well-being will be played out in various ways. The trial in Denver
has once again reopened pain, fear and suffering for many.
Grannies' Toy Closet originated in October 1994, to help children develop self-
esteem and gain confidence through play with age-appropriate toys, games,
books, and puzzles. A non-threatening learning experience of play and added attention from
the parent helps develop secure, well-rounded children.
The increased number of checkout of fire trucks, police cars and building
blocks shows us some of the ways children are dealing with a hard to explain
horror! Grannies' can help!!!
