Grannies' Toy Closet believes that all children should have the opportunity
to reach their full potential: therefore, our mission is to stimulate early
childhood development of disadvantaged children ages birth through five
years.
USA Toy Library Association shows that some parents and children
take so little time to that they need "classes" on how to do it. Yet,
if you ask children what is best about being a child, they say "Playing".

The grand openng on October 14, 1994 at 4700 N.W. 10th issued into the Oklahoma
City area a new concept where parents and other responsible adults can bring
their presschool aged children ti check out educational toys, books, games,
and puzzles. The adults are helped to understand the use of the toy and are
provided hands-on opportunities to work with their children in the use of
the toy. A by-product of this interaction is a greater understanding of the
early childhood development of their children. Another objective is to increase
the cognitive skills of the children. Intergenerational experiences are
included in the overall plan by the use of senior the volunteer to help with
toy checkouts.
Exact objectives are as follows:
To increase the cognitive skills of preschool choldren living in poverty.
To increase the ability of parents of preschoolers to participate in their
children's development.
To provide intergenerational experiences for preschool aged children and
the senior citizen volunteer.
