Statement of Purpose and Objectives


Grannies' Toy Closet believes that all children should have the opportunity to reach their full potential: therefore, our mission is to stimulate early childhood development of disadvantaged children ages birth through five years.

USA Toy Library Association shows that some parents and children take so little time to that they need "classes" on how to do it. Yet, if you ask children what is best about being a child, they say "Playing". (1)

The grand openng on October 14, 1994 at 4700 N.W. 10th issued into the Oklahoma City area a new concept where parents and other responsible adults can bring their presschool aged children ti check out educational toys, books, games, and puzzles. The adults are helped to understand the use of the toy and are provided hands-on opportunities to work with their children in the use of the toy. A by-product of this interaction is a greater understanding of the early childhood development of their children. Another objective is to increase the cognitive skills of the children. Intergenerational experiences are included in the overall plan by the use of senior the volunteer to help with toy checkouts.
